The Memory Lane- MUFE @ Service Road, Georgetown, Penang.

The Memory Lane- MUFE is space that marries history and culture with food; the interior decor brings its visitors time-travel back to the 1960's, with vintage wallpaper adorning the walls and old-school furniture setting the tone. The first floor is a cafe serving light local snacks and delicacies while the second floor is set to transform into a museum. For the cafe, diners who prefer a more outdoorsy ambiance could choose to take the al-fresco zone, take a seat inside for the extraordinary and picturesque interior decor otherwise. One of the highlights of the interior decor is the 'chai diam ma' (grocery shop in Hokkien dialect) behind that features snacks and nibbles, which are reminiscent of many's childhood. The menu however, is weak and lacked of personalities; probably the selling point is the atmosphere and ambiance in lieu of food. It is nevertheless, a worth-visit place with evocative decorations that may bring back many memories of the past.

Fried Bee Hoon (Rm 3)

Set B- Coffee + Kaya Butter Toast + Soft Boiled Egg (Rm 9)

Red Bean Soup (Rm 3)

Expect no elaborative menu but a simple one featuring Malaysians' favorite local breakfast items (rice dishes will be added for lunch). The Fried Bee Hoon was alright, though the texture was desirable with decent-taste, it was merely Fried Bee Hoon that can be easily found elsewhere. The Kaya-Butter Toast Set comes with a cup of Coffee/ Tea as well as two Soft-Boiled Eggs (diners are expected to crack their own Eggs, a seven-minute wait is needed). The Toast was a disappointment, the crispy-fluffy texture did not last. We then found out that it uses the commercial toaster (commonly used by hotels) and not toasted by way of grilling over charcoal.

  3. Bee hoon - tasteless, Nasi Lemak- tasteless, Kampong fish in Nasi Lemak also tasteless, toast with kaya or butter is tasteless. Chicken meatball that comes in 10 pcs is yummy. Teh o and Kopi o taste is mediocre. If food basic quality is not an issue, can reminisence the 60s e vironment here. Overall disappointing when it comes to Food.
