Shia's Homemade Granola @ Church Street Ghaut, Georgetown, Penang.

If you think Granola can only be eaten with Milk, think again. This snug and unpretentious place at the bustling Church Street Ghaut offers healthy brunch that cuts the calories but maintain the deliciousness. As the name would imply, the core product of Shia is their range of homemade Granola. From the still Granola, Shia's has expanded their menu, introducing a range of creative but unconventional dishes, including a series of dreamy-colorful Smoothie Bowls, Granola-Sandwiches etc. The place at Church Street Ghaut is unusually small and more of a place offering pack-to-go; where fitness aficionados could pack something for their post-workout snacks.

Dragon Pear Smoothie Bowl (Rm 12)

Caramel Banana Smoothie Bowl (Rm 12)

Smoothies at its best at Shia's where healthy goodies like Chia Seeds, Granola and fresh Fruits are being added. Their Dragon Pear Smoothie Bowl lured us in with its attractive and vibrant color; it was most refreshing with bold Pear flavors while the condiments added a little crunch to it. Caramel Banana was alright with a sweeter touch.

Big Breakfast (Rm 10)

Nutty Jelly (Rm 8)

Waffle Sandwich (Rm 12)

Granola Bar received a complete makeover in the Waffle Sandwich dish, Shia's conveniently sandwiched the invigorating Granola Bar (and fresh Banana) using two slivers of Waffles and lightly drizzled over Chocolate Sauce. Though the atypical combination was odd but the flavor was within our expectation. The Granola Bar provided the sweetness and crunchiness while the Waffle cuts through the sweetness a little.

We were greatly surprised by the Nutty Jelly- rustic crusty Toast lightly spread with Jam and Peanut Butter, sandwiching fresh Banana and a handful of Granola. The flavors were well-blended and harmonized; texture was equally multi-dimensional. Our only complaint was the portion, which we thought could be larger. Big Breakfast was straight-forward with microwaved Scrambled Egg and Granola served atop of Parmesan-Cheese spread Toast..... pretty standard-average and we thought the Granola had not done much in its aid.

Spa Water- Lemon and Lime infused Water (Rm 4.90)
