Wan Ton Mee @ Lebuh Melayu, Georgetown, Penang.

Right beside to the T-junction of Lebuh Melayu, Lorong Toh Aka and Lorong Ikan, there is a Wan Ton Mee stall which has been in business for many years. Known to many as "Agogo Wan Ton Mee", the unpretentious stall is famous among the neighborhood. It offers only Wan Ton Mee but the place was throng with regular patrons during my visit. Do avoid peak/ lunch hours if possible. However, the place might not be ideal and comfortable to dine in during a sultry afternoon as the sweltering heat can kill your appetite. Nevertheless, the earnest yet simple Wan Ton Mee is worth-trying if you are around the vicinity.

Dry Wan Ton Mee (Rm 3.60/ Regular) beautifully accompanied with Char Siew/ Barbecue Pork, Wan Ton/ Meat Dumplings and some vegetables. The dish was further heightened with the copious amount of Scallions added. To my surprise, the noodles were not as bouncy as they seem but the well-executed sauce clung well to the noodles, reasonably flavored but even better with their addictive and hot Chili paste. One unique feature about their noodles was the absence of lye/ alkaline water, well... at least my untrained palates could not detect any. However, I thought their meat dumplings were just okay-average, smooth but the skin was slightly thicker to my liking. I'd rate this Wan Ton Mee slightly above par.

On the other hand, this Soup version Wan Ton Mee (Rm 3.60/ Regular) was slightly milder in flavor. The piping hot broth with a touch of Pork Lards was comforting but it was slightly mild in taste to go together with the noodles; albeit some Chilies will help but I'd prefer the Dry version instead.
