Yong Tau Fu @ Nagore Road, Penang.

*** This eatery has ceased its operation since then.***

As I am a big fan of fish ball, I would normally hunt for fish ball-related food, and Yong Tau Fu is definitely on my list. I was passing by this area few days ago and immediately, I've came back to try some of their dishes. The shop is located right opposite to Pik Nik at Nagore Road, same row as U.S. Pizza. They do offer some other dishes such as Pork Trotters in Sweet Vinegar and Fried Dumplings etc. I wasn't too into all these stuff but my main aim was to try their Yong Tau Fu instead. Price and service-wise were okay but what troubles me was the parking.

Large set of their Yong Tau Fu (Rm 25.90) and we were told that this portion serves 4-5 person well and there were only three of us, funny thing was none of us feel full although we have finished all these Yong Tau Fu. I'd say this portion is good enough for two person only. Anyway, the vegetables were fresh but the texture of the Yong Tau Fu/ Fish Paste/ Fish Balls was rather disappointing, they weren't as springy as I thought they will be. I was expecting more from them since they are specialized in serving Yong Tau Fu. The soup was okay tho, not too salty, just nice but a bit oily to my liking. I was rather surprised that they did not serve us any chili sauce to further complement the Yong Tau Fu.

Speaking of the chili sauce, we were given some Sambal instead, which I presume the Sambal was to be used/eaten together with the rice. We had Turmeric Rice for Rm1.50 and Yam Rice for Rm1.80. The Turmeric Rice was flavorful and robust in the Turmeric flavor in my opinion, every single rice was perfectly coated, definitely one of the best Turmeric Rice i've ever had! As for the Yam Rice, it was good either, moist and soft. However, my friends and I were amused that the rice we had were actually tasted much better than the Yong Tau Fu!
