All About Sugar And Gift (团圆汤圆甜品屋) @ Lorong Susu, Penang.

Glutinous Rice Balls (Tang Yuan) represents reunion, having glutinous rice balls during festive season really meant a lot, particularly to Chinese. Its a must-eat dish during one of the most important day- Winter Solstice too. All About Sugar And Gift specializes in offering glutinous rice ball desserts, they have really a lot to offer, especially when it comes to the flavors of sugar syrup. Aside from glutinous rice ball, they do offer some main course dishes offering as well. Prices are reasonable. Situated at Lorong Susu, parking can be a problem, especially during peak hour. Service was slow either, mainly due to one person working. Ambiance-wise, was very good on the other hand, as if I have walked into the past, back to the Ming/Qing Dynasty. All About Sugar And Gift was previously visited by Taiwan Celebrity Chef- Chen Hong as well.

Salt & Sweet Lotus Tang Yuan In Brown Sugar (Rm4.20). There were some bigger ones and smaller ones. The bigger glutinous rice balls were obviously made of some stuffing stuffed inside. The outer layer of the stuffed glutinous rice balls were thin and the stuffing was obviously sweet lotus paste. Very good indeed. The smaller ones (normal glutinous rice balls) were just normal and ordinary. The brown sugar syrup was very good either, the ginger-flavor has successfully blended well into the brown sugar. Recommended.

Chinese Wine Salted Chicken With Rice Set (Rm10.80 for the chicken and additional Rm2 for the set package). The set comes with a main course, a small bowl of glutinous rice balls, a cup of chrysanthemum tea, and a bowl of soup. The white rice was some how too dry and chewy in my opinion. As for the salted chicken, the herbal flavor was very strong and aromatic. Just nice to my favor. Unfortunately, the chicken tasted a bit saltier than I thought it would be. Although its a salted chicken and it meant to be salty, but I would say that it was a bit too much. Could be better if they could reduce the usage of salt.

Curry Kapitan Chicken With Toast Set (Rm9.80 for the curry and additional Rm2 for the set package). Similarly to the set above, it comes with soup, drink and dessert. The curry chicken comes with two slices of bread. The Curry Kapitan was okay, but slightly more to the sweeter side, it was decent after all. Works well with the toast too.

Chrysanthemum Tea and Seaweed Soup. The soup was surprisingly good in my opinion, very flavorful and they were full of seaweed. Served while scorching hot, that was the best part.

The complementary desserts, two small bowls of glutinous rice balls. The sugar syrup has a ginger taste as well. By just adding an additional of Rm2, its definitely a good deal.
