Tao Healthy Kitchen 潮粥味道 @ Pulau Tikus, Penang.

Those who are on vegetarian diet might probably know this place,  Tao Healthy Kitchen 潮粥味道 has been around for quite some time. The place is easily accessible for those who frequent the Pulau Tikus wet market and can be found directly opposite to Moulmein Rise at the same area. The restaurant has a small plant-based menu that features all home-made delights which comprises of both asian and western choices. Nothing fancy- just a comfortable, convenient spot to get a no-frill, solid meat-free meal.

Hakka Lei Cha Noodles (Rm 19.90)

Rice Millet Porridge Set (Rm 7.50)

Buah Petai Tofu (Rm 4.90)

We wanted to try their Purple Rice Porridge but it was sold out, so we had the Rice Millet Porridge Set that came with 3 side dishes. There was no seasoning on the Rice Millet and was something like pure, classic Porridge that relied heavily on the side dishes... a pretty straight forward dish. One of their best sellers- the Hakka Lei Cha Noodles was very good. The noodles were nicely cooked with a chewy-bouncy texture, the real draw was the well-toasted Peanuts which gave the dish a unique aroma. The overall seasoning of the dish was quite spot on and it was a dish that we thoroughly enjoyed. We also tried their Buah Petai Tofu out of curiosity and it turned out to be ordinary Tau Kua stuffed with a piece of Buah Petai and topped with Chinese pickled Radish... a new-quirky combination but quite a deceiving name.
