H.O.M.E. By Martell @ The Penang Rendezvous 2018, Straits Quay, Penang.

For the first time in Penang, Asia Rendezvous is bringing the luxury lifestyle experience to Straits Quay Retail Marina this weekend, happening from 26 July to 29 July 2018. Like Phuket Rendezvous happened earlier this year, the Penang Rendezvous seeks to offer a high-end luxury experience in food, fashion, entertainment, cars, yachts etc. In conjunction to the Penang Rendezvous 2018, Martell, the oldest of great cognac houses, offers visitors a sip-of-luxury cognac experience; the pop up event is known as "H.O.M.E. By Martell" (House of Martell Entertainment).

Curious visitors can take the opportunity to visit H.O.M.E., where visitors can partake in various curiously designed activities- puzzles, optical illusions, unrevealed rooms; at the same time, getting to know more about Martell and its 300-year old brand history through unexpected angles. For those who wish to taste the cognac, one of the better ways is to try the specially concocted classic Martell Cocktails and stay curious!

Many Thanks to Martell Malaysia for hosting us that evening.

The meal started with a brief speech by Mr. Pierre Boyer, Martell's Brand Ambassador followed by an introduction to Chef Nathalie's specially curated 5-course dinner. Dishes are carefully created to balance and enhance the delicate flavors of food and the cognac.

The dinner had a refreshing start with some Green juice (Cucumber, Fennel, Celery and Ginger), savory Salmon, Scallop & Caviar Jewelry Ring as well as a playful combination of texture and earth flavors- the Morel Liquid Sphere... paired with Martell VSOP. Chef Nathalie then surprised us with a curious dessert-like Starter... as though we skipped the main and went straight to dessert. It was in fact, Foie Gras terrine in disguise... with a frisky, spicy touch, paired with Martell Cordon Bleu.

The main course of slow-cooked French Seabass with Scallop was beautifully presented in a bed of Risotto, Milk Foam and Parmesan Cheese. The flavor-combo was complex but certainly most palatable, worked well with Martell Cordon Bleu Extra; a fruitier, smoother choice (aged for more years). Before the sweet treat was Cellar Spoom, a dish specially concocted using aged Mimolette Cheese, a type of French Cheese similar to Holland's Gouda Cheese... pretty bold and nutty in flavor, paired well with Martell XO's spicy note that cuts through the creaminess of the Cheese.

Ending the meal is Yin & Yang delight... just like the concept of masculinity and femininity, Chef Nathalie pairs a concoction of fruity element with Chocolate to go with the oldest cognac- Martell Chanteloup Perspective... a sweet, fruity touch with bold lingering finish.
