Yi Jia Cuisine (一家海鲜小厨) @ Air Hitam, Penang.

Yi Jia Cuisine is definitely one of the community restaurants in the neighborhood of Air Hitam, it's common to see school-kids or parents bringing their children for a quick dinner at the place. Like most Chinese Chu Char places, Yi Jia Cuisine is an air-conditioned restaurant that offers a pretty standard Chinese menu... featuring an array of Chinese home-cooked dishes. Prices are of standard-average but the menu lacks the exciting factor, most dishes are common and can be easily found elsewhere. Also, we found ourselves with unbearable thirst after the meal, so probably some amount of MSG was used. It can however, be an option for you if you are in the vicinity and looking for an inexpensive, casual Chinese meal.

Braised Bitter Gourd with Chicken 苦瓜焖鸡 (Rm 15/ small)

Stir Fried Mix Vegetables 清炒三蔬 (Rm 12/ small)

Steamed Red Snapper with Spicy-Sour sauce 酸辣清蒸红狮鱼 (Rm 34/ by weight)

Stir Fried King Noodles 快炒皇帝面 (Rm 10/ serves 2)

We enjoyed their Stir Fried King Noodles a lot, we thought the dish was beautifully done. Though the seasoning might be a little bold for some, the Chef added a nice spicy twist to the dish (by adding Bird Eye's Chilies). The portion for 2 was pretty generous and worth-the-value... given that it only costs Rm 10 (quite some Prawns too if you must know).

Steamed Red Snapper with Spicy-Sour sauce was a let down; not that the fish was not fresh but the sauce was not something that we were looking for. It was a tad too sweet to our liking, we would prefer those with stronger acidity and more Garlicky. The remaining dishes were of satisfactory.
