Ginza Japanese Restaurant @ Vantage Desiran Tanjung, Penang.

Tanjung Bungah/ Pulau Tikus has long been the saving grace of Japanese expats sourcing for authentic Japanese eats and Ginza Japanese Restaurant at Vantage Desiran Tanjung is one of the busiest Japanese restaurants around. This absolute gem of place is always occupied on weekends; the restaurant's substantial Japanese menu is one of the strong pulling factors. Apart from the usual Japanese restaurant fare (like Sushi, Sashimi, Nabe, Noodles, Teppanyaki), the restaurant rolls out seasonal menu. Ingredients are air-flown in fresh and stock replenishes on every Tuesday and Friday, those with exotic palate would be glad to know that the restaurant carries unusual items such as Whale, Fugu (the Chef holds relevant license to process and serve the Fish) and Horse meat either (subject to availability and seasonal offer). Prices vary from affordable to premium goods... a place suitable for any occasion set in a comfortable, classic Japanese setting.

Many Thanks to Ginza Japanese Restaurant for hosting us.

Sanma Shioyaki Set (Rm 17.80)

Curry Udon (Rm 17.80)

Ginza's Set Lunch sets range from Rm 17.80 to Rm 48.80, regardless if you are on a tight budget or having a mood to indulge in good food, there will be a choice for you. Worth mentioning is their Unagi Don, an item not featured on the menu. Ginza's sincerity is reflected on the thick slab of Fish Meat, beautifully glazed and grilled; the Onsen Tamago is optional though. The soft, chewy Japanese Rice absorbs the sweet, smoky Unagi sauce... with the addictive Unagi, the combo speaks for itself.

Any order of the Set Lunch comes with complimentary Ice Cream but unlike most Japanese restaurants, Ginza does not serve Miso Soup... it only serves Dobin Mushi (Seafood clear soup in Tea Pot), a broth cooked for hours with bold Seafood sweetness. If you are game for a booze, their sides and snacks are worth a look. Highlights include Grilled Oysters, Grilled Squids and Yakitori. Any of these would pair well with the brew.

  1. You need to write some review on the food instead of just post the food photos.

  3. Sanma never be my option when comes to Japanese dining because I prefer more meaty fish such as Saba or Unagi :P
