Grandmama's (摇滚妈妈) @ SkyAvenue, Resorts World Genting, Pahang.

It's hard to miss Grandmama's, the restaurant is strategically located on ground floor of the new Sky Avenue, facing Sky Symphony and next to PictureHouse Cinema (same floor as the entrance to Sky Casino). The name gives a hint on the potential offering but as you walked closer, you will find a display of plastic food models at the display counter. It has a mix of Chinese delights with a touch of Malaysian elements so the dishes should not be new to Malaysians. Business is brisk, likely a place for a quick fix instead of leisure gathering; not too grueling to the wallet too if you must know (expect to spend around Rm 25-30 per pax on average).

Grandmama's signature River Prawn Sang Mee was alright, the gravy has the right consistency and it was reasonably seasoned but we were not quite impressed with the relatively tiny River Prawn, particularly at that price point. If there was one thing that we would recommend, it would be their Fish Head Noodles only. The portion was generous and the flavors were well-balanced. It had the perfect creamy texture with a mellow fish-sweetness, the noodles were carefully cooked and the fish heads were firm and fresh. It was a comforting treat to the tummy during chilly weather. Skip the stir fried Paku, while the texture was lovely, it was over-seasoned and a tad salty to our liking. After all, it was not really a wise choice to have a plate of greens at over Rm 20.
