Zok Noodle House (竹面馆) @ SkyAvenue, Genting Highlands, Pahang.

It's always stomach-comforting to have steaming hot soup under cold, chilly weather; for such experience at Genting Highlands, make your way to Zok Noodle House. Founded by a group of Malaysians, the brand aims to bring Hong Kong and Macanese delights to Malaysia. There are a few branches across Klang Valley, though the menu is slightly different for the branch at Genting Highlands, most of its signature dishes are still on offer. Prices are pretty reasonable and affordable, for the fact that you are dining at the mountain top. But do beware on the serving portion, it can be a little overwhelming for petite eaters. This is a good place for a quick, affordable family meal.

Vietnamese Pork Chop Noodles (Rm 17.77)

Chicken Curry Mee (Rm 17.39) + Additional Noodles (Rm 1.88)

Pork Balls Bitter Gourd Noodles (Rm 16.45)

Barbecue Pork Wanton Noodles (Rm 16.45)

Mixed Fish Balls (Rm 14.01)

While reasonably flavored, the Barbecue Pork Wanton Noodles deserved a better presentation. The way they served the noodles and the barbecued Pork was simply terrible but fortunately, they tasted pretty decent, at least not the way they appeared to be. The Chicken Curry Mee was alright, the curry broth was not as creamy and rich as compared to Penang Curry Mee; but the savior was the Chili Paste that provided a smoky, chili kick to the noodles. If you like it with a zing, top up with a squeeze of Lime juice. Vietnamese Pork Chop was one of our favorites of the day, they were very generous with the beautifully marinated Pork Chop, and the noodles were carefully cooked to the right al-dente texture. It was delicious to go with the Chili paste. For a meal of 5, it costs slightly more than Rm 100, pretty good price considering the fact that we were dining at Genting Highlands.
