MOiM Casual Korean Food @ Elit Avenue, Bayan Baru, Penang.

An extended branch of Saranghae Penang at Gottlieb Road, MOiM serves as a casual spot for a quick Korean meal. It does not have a huge menu but good enough for those who need a quick Korean fix. Do not expect Korean BBQ or Hot Pot but rather, some simple Korean home-cooked dishes like Jap Chae, Kim Chi stew, Ramyeon and some Korean Rice dishes. The setting does not portray heavy Korean elements, except for the friendly Korean server whom barely speaks English. Service was lackluster... especially the rule that does not allow diners to refill for Ban Chan, not even once; for the small serving portion, we thought the price tags were somewhat hefty.

MOiM Set- Ramyeon, Gimbap, Tteokbokki (Rm 30)

Jajangmyeon (Rm 19.90)

Complimentary Ban Chan (non-refillable)

While we understand the pictures on the menu are strictly for illustration only but we were somewhat frustrated to see the measly portion as compared to the picture. The Tteokbokki was ridiculously few with only a few Rice Cakes and 2 sheets of fish cakes with no hard boiled eggs or Cabbage. The Gimbap was poorly wrapped and it went completely off at the nudge of the chopsticks. The serving portion was rather expensive for Rm 30.

Jajangmyeon shared the same small serving portion... while we like the chewy texture of the noodles, the black bean paste did not manage to wow us. The flavor was somewhat flat and monotonous. Come to think of it, the dish priced at Rm 19.90 was a total rip off.
