Urban Daybreak Launches New Dinner Menu

Urban Daybreak has been serving some of the greatest brunch items in town but the proprietors push the boundaries further by offering a new dinner menu. The cafe is now open for dinner, apart from retaining the brunch-highlights, they are also introducing a monthly dinner menu. The culinary team behind Urban Daybreak challenges themselves with monthly themes, for the month of November 2017, the dinner features a Greek-inspired menu, showcasing an array of Greek specialties. Expect frequent change to the menu as the team is committed to roll out menus with tantalizing food trends and fierce flavors in the near future, not only Western but Asian delights as well- Japanese, Indian or even Chinese just to give you some hint. The dinner menu can be ordered as a set or ala-carte.

Many Thanks to Urban Daybreak for hosting us that evening.

Tzatziki- Greek Cucumber and Yogurt Dip served with Pita Bread (Rm 16)

Avgolemono- Greek Chicken and Lemon Soup (Rm 18)

Spanakopita- Greek Spinach Pie with Feta Cheese and Phyllo Pastry (Rm 20)

Diners have the option to make it a set or have the dishes ordered separately (ala-carte). For those come in pair, it is recommended to go for the Hellenic Feast for 2 at Rm 148. The set includes all dishes featured in this post (3 starters + 2 mains + 1 dessert). The health conscious would be happy to try Tzatziki, a healthy Yogurt dip served with Pita bread. Equally appetizing is the Avgolemono, a type of Greek soup that contains Chicken, Egg and Lemon, so expect the soup to be savory-sour, quite a unique combination to kick start the evening. Not a fan of sour start? The Spanakopita- Greek Spinach Pie will please your palate with a crisp, creamy texture. Not so much on the Feta Cheese (I would personally prefer it to be cheesier) but the addictive crunch will leave you yearn for more.

Kleftiko- Greek Roasted Lamb Shank with Root Vegetables, Raisins and Grape Salsa (Rm 56)

Moussaka- Greek Eggplant and minced Beef Casserole (Rm 42)

Baklava- Greek Walnut and Almond in Phyllo Pastry (Rm 20)

For mains, diners have the option to go for Kleftiko, Greek braised Lamb Shank or Moussaka, baked Eggplant with minced Meat. The former choice would be good for meat lovers as diners get to fill the tummy with generous chunks of fork-tender lamb. The meat is well-seasoned but for the Greek element to blend in, enjoy the meat with Raisins and Grape Salsa, for the extra sweet touch. The latter choice is cheesier but lighter in texture. It certainly looks like Lasagna, sans the pastry in between (replaced with Eggplant). Before the end of the meal, diners will be served with a serving of Baklava, classic Greek sweets with nutty elements like Walnuts and Almonds. If you are in a celebratory mood, you may opt to enjoy the dinner with selected Greek Wines as well.

  2. Lamb shank at daybreak? My!!! That's one heavy breakfast...or I guess that's just their name, not really a breakfast place.
