Da Ohn Da Korean BBQ Restaurant @ Butterworth, Penang.

One of the few Korean restaurants at Butterworth- Da Ohn Da Korean Restaurant is the brand's only branch in Penang (HQ in Ipoh); similar to most Korean restaurants, it offers a wide range of Korean delights including barbecue, Hot Pot, Rice and Noodle dishes. There are however, some uncommonly seen Korean dishes here. Prices seem to be friendlier than most established Korean restaurants in Penang but the interior decor is less-impressive. It looks exactly like an ordinary restaurant in the neighborhood (the only thing Korean about this place is the Korean drama posters adorning the walls). The lack of proper ventilation system makes the place smoky so be prepared to face the smoke odor after a meal here at Da Ohn Da. To find Da Ohn Da Korean restaurant- from Raja Uda, turn into the road opposite to Kwong Wah Primary School. You will find the Korean restaurant on your left shortly.

Ja Jangyeon (Rm 18)

Stir Fried Octopus Noodles (Rm 43/ serves 2)

Tteokbokki (Rm 17)

Da Ohn Da's Ja Jangyeon seems legit but something was missing and authentic-challenged. The noodles could be more al-dente and the Black Bean sauce could be more fragrant. Equally less-satisfying was the Tteokbokki. The Gochujang sauce was somewhat peculiar and carried a hint of Chili sauce. Also, the quintessential Hard Boiled Egg was missing.

One of the uncommon dishes we had at Da Ohn Da was Stir Fried Octopus Noodles, a dish that uses Gochujang sauce to stir fry with Octopus and served with thin Mee Sua-alike Rice Noodles. Taste was alright but the Octopuses were slightly overcooked and the noodles were over-tossed with Sesame Oil. The Sesame Oil overpowered everything. Regretfully, it is not something that we look forward to order again.
