Pho Viet @ Beach Street, Georgetown, Penang.

Central Georgetown is a real food hub with no shortages of International cuisine... and that includes Vietnamese food. The name Pho Viet certainly rings a bell... and we were right, their specialty- Vietnamese Pho. The place was previously known as Yellow Lips (at Beach Street) but has since taken over by a new Vietnamese team that offers a variety of Vietnamese delicacies. Prices are on the higher side (20-30% higher than other Vietnamese joints in town) but they have certainly delivered the quality; service was impeccable as well. Not only did they offer complimentary dessert but they try to explain every dish in great details (they politely advised me on the correct way of eating Vietnamese Pho). If price is not your concern, do give this place a try.

Pho Bo/ Vietnamese Beef Noodles (Rm 16)

Goi Cuon/ Vietnamese Spring Rolls (Rm 12.50)

The server introduced their Pho Bo with aplomb and we did not hesitate to order one. The color of the meat broth seemed legit and one sip of the broth reassured us that we were enjoying a bowl of authentic Vietnamese Pho. It was robust with flavors, with a hint of herbaceous element. The noodles were smooth and light on the palate either; if there was one thing that we could nitpick, it would be their generosity on providing the condiments (of Basil, Sprouts and Vietnamese Parsley)... would be perfect if they could provide more. To fill up the tummy, we had an extra order of Vietnamese Spring Rolls... pretty standard-average but they were sincere enough to have served us two types of dips- basic Spring Roll dip and Hoisin sauce.
