Tucked in one of the newly refurbished Ropewalk Piazza at the quiet alley of Pintal Tali, Snapdot Cafe is a space dedicated for photography lovers or rather, a gallery displaying the proud creations of the cafe owner. The interior decor of the place did not stand out, more like an ordinary... but comfortable cafe. Their menu is standard-average, offering the customary Pasta dishes and the usual Western-Breakfast fare. All in all, the pull factor for Snapdot Cafe is weak and the cafe needs to come out with more attractive items to compete in the competitive cafe-scene. We'd like to make a second visit in the near future nevertheless.
Ever since the Salted Egg trend taken Penang, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore by storm; creative Chefs are coming out with more Salted-Egg-inspired products. Snapdot's Salted Egg Pasta (Rm 15.90) is one of them. It was expertly flavored- Bacon to impart the delightful smokiness, Basil to introduce the herbaceous aroma, Salted Egg for the salty-fragrant essence. The dish shares some common characteristics to Carbonara but with Salted-Egg twist. The Salted Egg element was not strong but discernible. We like the addition of Basil and Bacon here, for the extra layer of dimension. However, we thought the Salted Egg element could be stronger... the portion could be larger either.
The temptation to order Apple-flavored Panna Cotta (Rm 6.90) resulted in a disappointment. The dessert did not possess the silky smooth texture we hoped for. The flavor was a tad too artificial to our liking and no, we struggled to finish it. It was flat with gritty texture, something must be done to completely revamped the recipe.
