7 Village Noodle House @ Abu Siti Lane, Penang.

I am pretty sure that most of the Penangites staying in mainland (be it Butterworth or Bukit Mertajam) will at least heard of this restaurant- 7 Village before. It has a total of 4 branches in Penang where the newly opened 4th branch is located at Penang island (the rest are based in mainland). 7 Village Noodle House is famous for its Koay Teow Th'ng (flat rice noodles with specially made broth) and La Mian/ Ramen. Not only these but they do serve other delicacies such as Spring Rolls, Loh Bak, De-boned Chicken, Chicken Feet, Blanched Vegetables as well as some traditional Malaysian breakfast staples- Roti Toast/ Toasted Bread and Half Boiled Egg. I like the environment being clean and cozy, they do provide some reading materials/ magazines for their diners to flip with while waiting for the orders to be served. It should be rather easy to find 7 Village Noodle House, a stone-throw distance from Choo Plaza at Abu Siti Lane, Georgetown. A very big blue sign board has been erected at the main entrance which can be easily seen from far. Prices are okay and affordable, definitely more worth it as compared to the Old Town Coffee House which offers some horrible foods to scam the public.

Delighted by their La Mian (Rm 6.90-soup) which comes in springy and bouncy, as well as the sides of a Half Boiled Egg, 3 slices of Chicken, 2 Fish Balls, some Minced Pork as well as some vegetables. The portion was okay but big eaters will consider ordering for a larger portion but it should be sufficient for a person whom have an ordinary appetite like me. I like the fact they have added a Half Boiled Egg into the soup which makes it extra flavorful and savory. I am not a fan of those oily Koay Teow Th'ng where they will throw in bunch of Pork Lards into some Chicken Broth and claim it as authentic Koay Teow Th'ng but this bowl of Koay Teow Th'ng suits me perfectly as it was not oily at all. I will definitely come back for more.

My mom opted for their Koay Teow Th'ng (Rm 3.30- Small) which comes in a pretty small portion. She was thrilled by the smooth texture of the Koay Teow (flat rice noodles) and the broth was equally savory as well! I did had a mouthful of the Koay Teow and find it La Mian/ Ramen could be slightly better as compared with this.

"Dragon Ball" (Rm 3.30, comes with some Sea Weed) sounds pretty cool to me and that was one of the reasons I had this listed as one of my orders. Apparently the Dragon Balls are another type of Fish Balls apart from those you are getting with your Noodles soup. The Dragon Balls were bouncier and slightly bigger in size as compared to the usual Fish Balls. Not a bad choice if you are a huge fan of Fish Balls...

My dad is a "feet-lover" so he had an extra order of this Chicken Feet at the cost of Rm 2. The portion is not big but it should be okay for 1-2 person. I like that they have braised the feet till tender, where you don't have to chew basically, just slightly slip the meat off using your tongue and it just goes into your throat. Flavorful on its own but best with a touch of some Soy Sauce.

  2. Chicken feet looks yummy. I like it when its slowly braised rather than being fried before being braised.

    1. It was not that tender and soft as it looks, but not a bad one, something different from the braised version

    1. YES! Me too, partly because white rice has more calories as compared to noodles :P
