Lolipot Shabu-shabu @ Bay Avenue Queensbay

Had another treat from 2 of my best friends again, so this is a newly opened restaurant in bay avenue, queesbay. They serve steamboat in a rather unique way which they provide each of their customer with their very own pot instead of sharing one together. The ingredients are presented in a conveyor belt, the names will be listed beside as well. However, better ingredients such as beef slices and prawns are not being provided in the conveyor belt, you will have to order from the waiters instead. Chili sauce wasn't provided as well, you will just have to ask which annoyed me a little, they could have been more generous and just leave them on the table for the customers' own preferences.

Customers are free to take any steamboat ingredients they prefere from the conveyor belt, pork intestines are also provided (not halal). :/

They have 3 kinds of soup bases to offer, this is tom yum, the other 2 being the clear soup version and ginger milk.

Ginger milk soup base. So as the name of the restaurant suggested, shabu-shabu, it wouldn't be completed without some perfectly sliced beef right ? Basically you just need to dip the beef slices in the soup and gently move it, they are best while served in medium rare don't you think so ?

Their prawns were rather fresh as you can see, the flesh was pretty chewy and crunchy, adding 1 or 2 to ur soup could make your soup sweeter, especially in tom yum =)

Some of the more appealing steamboat ingredients provided, fish slices, mussles, abalone slices, scallop balls, several types of mushrooms etc....

Since it's being served in buffet style, the drinks were in free-flow style as well, the drinks available were orange juice, mango juice, peach tea and plain water. The hot dessert was being offered was red bean soup on that night, not sure if they change it everynight or what.

The colourful ice cream with a lot of interesting flavours resting aside caught our attention while we entered the restaurant, there were 6 types of ice cream, and you can have as much as u can too :D

Having air-conditioner around when you are having steamboat is no longer a dream for us, it's getting pretty common nowadays, with just Rm33, you get to experience fine dining and the all the favourite of Asian Chinese- steamboat. Experience the new, fresh and trendy concept of 1 pot per person. Simply cook and choose anything you like without worrying about others. Highly recommended if you are craving for steamboat and you are looking for a cozy place to hang out with your friends or just to have a fine cuisine. Lolipot Shabu-shabu might be your answer.

Sarangchae Korean Cuisine @ Gottlieb Road, Penang

In conjunction with my bday, my frens celebrated my 21st birthday with me in this korean restaurant just exactly opposite to Penang Chinese Girl School -- Sarangchae. I was greeted by the lady boss over there and surprisingly she knew it was my bday. My frens told her while they made the reservation, she gave us a warm smile. Asked for recommendations and tried on few of the famous dishes:
This was their seafood stew. The stew was pretty amazing, the soup was very sweet and tasty, altho it looks spicy bt it wasnt that spicy afterall. Tonnes of seafood were added to the stew, i think thats the reason why the soup could be so sweet and tasty. It comes in a set, which includes alot of side dishes such as kim chi, bean sprouts, weird beans, sanma fish, steamed egg, fruits and etc. Min order of 2 person is required and it costs each person rm50 which also means that u need to pay at least rm100 in order to try this set on. It was pretty worth as the set comes in a very wide variety and the side dishes are refillable. U will be served with a bowl of rice too.
Steamed egg served in a hot pot, its included in the set, the texture of the egg was pretty rough, bt i think the egg was beaten till fluffy and have had mixed with some soup, as u can taste the sweetness within the egg, some chicken/pork stock i supposed ?

Grilled sanma fish, they were included in the set. The taste was decent, kinda similar with the japanese style of cooking sanma as the sauce brings abit sweetness.
Spicy stir fried tteok (korean rice cake), it wasnt that spicy the way it looks like, the sauce was more to sweet rather than spicy, they threw in tonnes of cabbage (korean likes cabbage, don they ?) and carrots, the natural sweetness of the vegetables just fused into the sauce and surprisingly, there was an egg in there, donno wat its for bt nvm, still very good afterall. The texture of the tteok was superb, its quite chewy bt it doesnt have any taste in it, u must use something very strong to cook it, in this case, the spicy sauce. Highly recommended if u havent tried tteok before ^^. Korean Kim Chi pancake (rm25), was decent 1, ntg much special, cant really taste the kim chi out but it was okay.
Japchae (rm25), korean glass noodles, this was WOW, it was 1 of my favourites of the night, the glass noodles were just awesome, the texture was so chewy and they fried the whole thing until perfect. The taste was perfect too, it brings abit sweet but not that much, the style was rather close to the japanese, highly recommended again ^^.
Sizzling spicy octopus (rm30), the lady boss was very kind to give us this dish for FREE coz its my birthday, lol, the octopus was rather chewy, might be overcooked due to the sizzling hot pan, the sauce was more or less like the tteok's, quite sweet, but its good overall. The food was satisfying overall, but its abit pricey since we rarely find cheap korean food here eh.

"Wine & Dine" Buffet in E&O Hotel

The wine and dine buffet in E&O hotel is rather grand and exclusive, they offer a wide variety of food, from local cuisine to western and Japanese cuisine. As the title says, the beer and wine offered are free flow, u can drink as much as u wan, of coz, they are not limited to alcoholic drinks only, they do offer coffee and some other drinks such as fruit punch. This will be a rather long post, so less wordings and let the pictures entertain u !!!
Sarkies corner is the restaurant's name for offering the weekend wine and dine buffet.

A long corridor will be spotted once u entered the restaurant and the food will be displayed along the corridor. Chefs will be grilling and busy preparing the food for u, it kinda triggers my appetite. :PSalad bar. I like their unique way of displaying the salad. They fill the vegetables and the dressing and some other stuff that goes together with the salad together, it sorta like makes it more appealing, yet, they still offer more than the usual dressings down there just to provide their customers with more choices.Raw salmon roll topped with some mayonnaise and caviar. Taste was just okay coz the salmon slices were abit tasteless, or maybe im just get used to the wasabi+soya sauce version of eating raw salmon.

Beans topped with scallop, together with thousand island dressing, was a decent 1, but the scallop makes no difference here.
The seafood bar, displayed more than 6 types of seafood out there, raw oysters, scallops, crayfish, salmon and tuna sashimi and lots of lots of prawns, and they come in huge size.
The sushi bar. As u can see, they offer quite an amount of sushi rolls out there, i din tried any of them coz i think rice makes u full easily and its inappropriate to be taken in buffet.
Medium rare tuna, as u can see, the meat of the fish is still raw in the middle bt its cooked on the outer layer, it creates a special texture that is hard outside bt is soft inside, was rather abit tasteless, u will need the help of soya sauce. The grill section where they have alot of nice stuff over there XD, lamb chops, German sausages(halal, not pork), satays, grill salmons, squid rings, prawns, mushrooms, codfishes etc.
A mountain full of crabs are up for grabs in the grill pan. =D
The sauce that goes with all those seafood, din really tried out tho but it looks tempting.
Roasted duck, lamb, chicken and beef. The texture for all the above was kinda tender. The best thing is u can actually try every single kinda meat out there at once. There were few kinds of sauce provided depends on ur personal preference.
This is the pasta corner, they offer 3 types of pasta with 2 types of sauce, being the white sauce (creamy cheese) and the red sauce (tomatoes). The chef was pretty nice to us, u can even ask for any ingredients u would like. Had the white sauce pasta (spaghetti), was awesome. The best white sauce pasta i ever had. Highly recommended.
Dessert corner. Had lots of lots of fancy desserts out there, puddings, chocolates, cakes, cookies whatever u called. 1 thing good was the dessert werent that sweet after all, so u can try more coz u wont feel that full eventually.
U will notice a chocolate fountain beside those fruits, u can actually dip any of ur preferred fruits into the fountain, interesting eh. A table full of beers, red wines and white wines will be seen near the reception counter, they are free-flow, u can drink as much as u can....
Its rm120++ per pax, reservations are strongly recommended since the place will be loaded with ppl over the weekends, esp Saturdays. I wonder since when penangites are that rich (except me duh) :/ Anyway, if u are using HSBC's credit card, u will be entitled of discounts up to 15%, unfortunately we are not. Service and the food were awesome, will definitely come back again if i have the chance.
